Schloss Fachsenfeld | Opening Hours & Events

Schloss Fachsenfeld in Aalen-Fachsenfeld is much more than a historic castle: It is a cultural place with a park, exhibitions, guided tours, weddings, and special events in a listed ensemble. Those looking for the opening hours of Schloss Fachsenfeld usually want to quickly know when the castle and park are accessible, how to park, what rooms are available, and whether a visit is worthwhile for a tour, a celebration, or a pleasant outing. For this reason, the official website provides clear guidance: The 2026 season runs from April 6 to November 1, the park and the castle have different opening hours, and admission is transparently regulated. At the same time, the site shows why this place is so popular in the Ostalb region: The combination of Renaissance castle, neoclassical alterations, Art Nouveau library, art in the castle, and the almost eight-hectare landscape park makes Schloss Fachsenfeld a destination that beautifully connects history, nature, and culture. Opening Hours, Tours, and Admission

Anyone wishing to visit Schloss Fachsenfeld should first take a look at the seasonal opening hours. The official website states that the current season runs from April 6 to November 1, 2026. The park is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 1 PM to 4 PM, Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM, and Sundays and public holidays from 11 AM to 5 PM. The castle itself has regular visiting hours on Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM and on Sundays and public holidays from 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission is 5 euros for both the park and the castle, and the visit page also mentions ticket combinations and discounted prices for certain groups. So, if you are planning an outing, you can easily combine it with a walk in the park or a tour through the castle rooms. The visitor information is deliberately kept clear so that both spontaneous visitors and day-trippers with a specific time frame can plan quickly. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

Especially helpful is that Schloss Fachsenfeld not only relies on free visits but also offers structured guided tours. On request, park and castle tours are possible on all days, even outside regular opening hours. The official information states that each park or castle tour lasts about 60 minutes, with thematic tours focusing on different topics such as the Baron as a tinkerer and inventor, the women's room, floral blooms and wild herbs, the mysterious world of herbs, or tree treasures in the castle park. This transforms a simple visit into a content-rich outing where history, architecture, and nature come together. Visitors interested in the history of the castle will also find information on the website about the permanent exhibition and rooms such as the weapon collection and Art Nouveau library. This is ideal for planning, as the visit can be tailored to interests, whether as a short tour or an extensive discovery day. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

The question of the right time for a visit can also be easily answered: During the season, Schloss Fachsenfeld offers both the park and the castle rooms in fixed time slots. This is particularly attractive for families, culture enthusiasts, and people who enjoy relaxed walks, as the open park landscape and the historic interiors complement each other. The castle describes itself as a place between tradition and modernity, for lingering and enjoying, and this is felt in the visit structure: first the walk through the grounds, then the view into the historic rooms, and later perhaps a tour or a stay at an event. So, those looking for a visit to Schloss Fachsenfeld will not find an overloaded museum logic, but an accessible, clearly structured visit offering with real experiential value. Weddings at Schloss Fachsenfeld

A particularly strong search theme around Schloss Fachsenfeld is weddings. The official wedding page explicitly positions the castle as a romantic wedding venue in the Ostalb region and describes various wedding locations for different styles and guest numbers. Options include the Gold Salon, the Yellow Salon, the Pleuer Hall, the Hall by the Linden trees, and the water lily pond in the landscape park. The Gold Salon is furnished in Empire style and offers 30 seats and 10 standing places. The Yellow Salon is suitable for smaller ceremonies with 16 seats and 4 standing places. The Pleuer Hall accommodates up to 100 people, and the water lily pond offers 40 seats for an outdoor ceremony. Weddings can take place from April to October, depending on the room, and at the water lily pond during the summer months of June, July, and August. This variety makes the location interesting for couples planning both an intimate celebration and a larger ceremony in a historic setting. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/heiraten/))

The wedding page consciously addresses the emotional aspect: The castle offers well-kept gardens, history, architecture, and nature as a backdrop for the most beautiful day of life. Additionally, there is the practical advantage that a champagne reception is possible after the ceremonies, in nice weather under the linden trees and in bad weather in the Historical Gallery. For couples, this means planning security and a beautiful spatial sequence without losing the character of the place. Important for search queries like Schloss Fachsenfeld civil registry or civil wedding is the clear distinction: The website describes wedding locations and individual ceremonies, i.e., the wedding venue and its rooms. For specific civil registry processes, one should make an official inquiry, as the website does not provide a general standard rule for this. So, for those looking for a wedding with historic flair, this is a place that combines intimacy, elegance, and atmosphere without appearing artificial. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/heiraten/))

Schloss Fachsenfeld is also well-equipped for on-site wedding planning. The site explicitly invites couples to visit the rooms and make an appointment. This is particularly useful for couples who want to personally experience not just pictures but also the proportions, the atmosphere, and the paths between the ceremony, reception, and photo locations. Especially the water lily pond and the historic interiors show how versatile the castle functions: very festive, very romantic, and still with the necessary structure for real processes. Those looking for photos at Schloss Fachsenfeld will also find strong motifs in the wedding situation: garden, historic facades, old trees, and the combination of castle architecture and nature. This also explains why the location is repeatedly described as romantic and beautiful in reviews. For SEO searches, this is a clear advantage, as the wedding use is not just a side theme but one of the most important features of Schloss Fachsenfeld. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/heiraten/))

Events, Exhibitions, and Tickets

Schloss Fachsenfeld explicitly sees itself as an event venue. The official website bundles events and exhibitions in and around the castle, and even the homepage makes it clear that art, culture, and the historic ambiance belong together. Visitors will find a current event calendar with concerts, readings, debate formats, and seasonal offerings. Currently, the exhibition RELEASED FROM PURPOSE – Beuys, Duchamp, Uecker & Co. Sculptural Positions from the Schiffer Collection is particularly visible. According to the official announcement, it continues the exhibition series on the Schiffer Collection, which has been a permanent loan in the holdings of the Schloss Fachsenfeld Foundation since 2025. The opening was planned for April 17, 2026, with the exhibition running from April 18 to July 5, open on Saturdays and Sundays during regular exhibition hours. This makes Schloss Fachsenfeld a place where new cultural impulses are regularly set, and the search term Schloss Fachsenfeld events has real added value. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/events/))

Also interesting is the thematic orientation of the forum. Schloss Fachsenfeld describes the forum as an ideal space for topics from society, culture, and politics, science and technology, as well as nature. This makes it clear that events here are not limited to classical entertainment but are deliberately intended to enable debates and exchanges. The website emphasizes that readings, performances, lectures, and concerts find a suitable forum here. For guests, this means: The castle is not just a silent monument backdrop but a lively place with a stance. Those searching for Schloss Fachsenfeld program or Schloss Fachsenfeld tickets will find on the event page the note that tickets are available through the Tourist Info Aalen or via the respective ticket link for the event. This is practical because you can choose the appropriate booking route directly depending on the date. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/events/))

Seasonal highlights are also part of the profile of the place. The official site mentions, for example, the season opening 2026 on Easter Monday, April 6, from 11 AM to 5 PM. The park and castle will be open, a public park tour will be offered, and an Easter treasure hunt for children is mentioned. Such offerings show that the castle is relevant not only for individual event evenings but also as an excursion destination throughout the season, providing a program with changing focuses. For the search intention Schloss Fachsenfeld Advent or Schloss Fachsenfeld Christmas market, the Schloss Advent is also interesting: The official forum page announced a festive Christmas market weekend from November 28 to 30, 2025, with over 25 stalls. This proves that Schloss Fachsenfeld is also a crowd puller during the Advent season when arts and crafts, gift ideas, and festive atmosphere come together. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/events/))

Directions, Parking, and Location in Aalen-Fachsenfeld

Those looking for Schloss Fachsenfeld will find the location at Am Schloss 1, 73434 Aalen-Fachsenfeld. The castle is located in a district of Aalen in the Ostalb region and is described on the website as a listed ensemble, just a few kilometers from the historic city center of Aalen. This is practical for visitors, as the location works well for excursions from the city as well as for arrivals from the surrounding area. Directions are directly linked on the website, and the operators mention several specific parking options. Parking spaces are mentioned in Steine, next to the Protestant cemetery, and in the parking lot at the festival grounds in Fachsenfeld. This information is particularly helpful when coming for a wedding, a tour, or a larger event and not wanting to search on-site. Especially for search queries like Schloss Fachsenfeld parking or Schloss Fachsenfeld Aalen, these are the crucial pieces of information. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

The location of the castle significantly contributes to the overall impression. The website states that the beautiful landscape park hugs the slope towards the Kochertal and offers a unique nature experience with its original flora and fauna right at the gates of Aalen. This wording is not only poetic but also describes very concretely why the surroundings work so well: Schloss Fachsenfeld is not isolated but embedded in a cultivated cultural landscape. Visitors thus experience not just a building but a complex with pathways, garden spaces, views, and transitions between open and sheltered areas. For events, tours, and weddings, this is particularly valuable because the journey does not end at the entrance but leads into a holistic place that gradually unfolds. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

Also, for corporate events and larger meetings, the location is interesting. The booking page emphasizes that Schloss Fachsenfeld is located just a few kilometers from the historic city center of Aalen, providing a representative yet easily accessible setting. This is a typical argument for event locations, as one wants historical atmosphere without losing sight of logistics. The parking information on the website, the proximity to Aalen, and the clear signage of the address make planning straightforward. So, for those looking for not just a beautiful picture but a location that can be realistically accessed, visited, and organized for guests, this is a good overall package. In combination with the official opening hours and the tour offerings, it becomes clear that Schloss Fachsenfeld is designed for accessibility and usability. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/buchung/))

History, Park, and Special Rooms

The history of Schloss Fachsenfeld goes back a long way. According to the official chronicle, Georg Siegmund von Woellwarth had a larger building erected as early as 1540, which was expanded into a Renaissance castle by his son Hans Siegmund around 1567. During the Thirty Years' War, the lordly residence was severely damaged, and at Christmas 1699, the castle nearly burned down completely. The new building was completed in 1710. In 1806, the small knighthood of Fachsenfeld fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg due to the Napoleonic Wars. In 1827, Chief Justice Wilhelm von Koenig acquired the castle and had it restored, remodeled, and expanded in the following decades. From 1837, the current economic building was created, and from 1839, the neoclassical transformation in the style of Italian country houses began, featuring a garden hall, hunting and dining rooms, and the main hall. This development explains why Schloss Fachsenfeld appears architecturally so multifaceted. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/geschichte/))

The park is a central part of this overall picture. The website describes it as a botanical gem with old trees, nearly eight hectares in size, and nestled against the slope towards the Kochertal. Since September 2020, the gallery Schloss Fachsenfeld in the park also presents around 30 bronze sculptures by Professor Karl-Ulrich Nuss, which are intended to enrich the park permanently and will be supplemented over time. This means that the outdoor space is not just a backdrop but itself becomes an exhibition space. Those searching for Schloss Fachsenfeld park will find a place where nature, art, and movement are directly connected. The tours to tree treasures in the castle park fit well with the opportunity to explore the park as part of a guided tour or during a free walk. This is a strong argument for visitors who enjoy walking and simultaneously experiencing culture. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

Inside, the mixture of history and presentation continues. The visit page mentions the women's room, the weapon collection, the Art Nouveau library, and other historically furnished rooms. The Pleuer Hall is dedicated to a permanent exhibition featuring works by the Swabian Impressionist Hermann Pleuer, which further strengthens the cultural character of the castle. The booking page also describes the Pleuer Hall with a Steinway grand piano, 100 square meters of space, and up to 99 people in row seating; for conferences, a variant with about 25 people is also mentioned. Such room data is important because it shows that Schloss Fachsenfeld is not only beautiful but also functional. The rooms can be used for conferences, concerts, receptions, celebrations, and cultural formats, thus connecting the historic setting with the practice of modern events. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/besichtigung/))

The foundation behind the castle underscores this claim. It was established in 1982 by Baron Reinhard von Koenig Fachsenfeld with the aim of preserving, opening, and establishing the castle and park as a regionally significant cultural site. Art, science, technology, and nature are to be related here. This explains why Schloss Fachsenfeld today appears so independent: it is neither just a museum nor just an event location but a grown cultural place with a public mandate. Those entering the search terms Schloss Fachsenfeld Wikipedia or Schloss Fachsenfeld history are usually looking for quick orientation. The official history provides the most reliable facts and simultaneously shows how closely the development of the house is linked to architecture, collecting, remodeling, and cultural use. The result is a place that is historically deeply rooted and regularly presents itself anew. ([schloss-fachsenfeld.de](https://schloss-fachsenfeld.de/stiftung/?utm_source=openai))

I stumbled across it quite by chance and spontaneously using Google Maps, and I was immediately intrigued! The castle is a gem set in a wonderful park with works of art. It's wonderful to be able to wander leisurely through the beautifully signposted rooms, which are homely, elegant, and fully furnished. We experienced the park during a wild leaf spectacle – fabulous – and are looking forward to seeing it again. Parking is clearly signposted 100 meters away.
