Opening Hours Freibad Spiesel 2026: Season Start, Rest Day, and Summer Holidays
The current season planning is of interest to everyone who wants to prepare their visit as precisely as possible. The city of Aalen states that the official season start for Freibad Spiesel is on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12 PM. Outside of the summer holidays, the opening hours are Monday to Friday from 12 PM to 8 PM, with Tuesday designated as a fixed closing day. On Saturdays and Sundays, the pool is open from 9 AM to 8 PM. During the summer holidays, the Freibad opens daily from 9 AM to 8 PM, according to the city. This makes Spiesel very easy to plan in the summer: those who want to swim early can use the weekend or the holidays, while those coming after work will find a later time slot during the week. The season starts at a time when the warm season traditionally begins in Aalen, and the pool quickly becomes a meeting point for families, clubs, and regular lane swimmers. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/amtsblatt-stadtinfo-16-kalenderwoche-17-april-2026.249241.25.htm))
Everyday practice includes not only the opening hours but also the rules regarding admission and weather. The webshop of the city utilities Aalen explains that an online ticket is only valid for the booked admission window and that in the Freibad, the ticket sales close 30 minutes before the end of the opening hours. The swimming regulations also state that the latest admission to the outdoor pools is 30 minutes before swimming ends and that the swimming area must be vacated 20 minutes before the end of the opening hours. For guests, this means: arrive early, don’t leave admission to the last minute, and follow safety instructions in case of thunderstorms. The city also emphasizes that the outdoor pools remain open in any weather, but in severe weather conditions, the pools and sunbathing areas must be vacated for safety reasons. This combination of clear time slots and practical safety rules makes the visit transparent and planable. ([webshop.sw-aalen.de](https://webshop.sw-aalen.de/faq))
Admission Prices, Discounts, and Season Tickets at Freibad Spiesel
Those looking for Freibad Spiesel prices or Freibad Spiesel admission primarily want to know how the visit can be financially classified. For 2026, the city of Aalen explicitly reports unchanged admission prices for the outdoor pools Spiesel and Unterrombach. In addition, there are known discounts for energy customers of the city utilities Aalen and for holders of the Spion card. The city also points out that common rates and prices apply in Spiesel and Unterrombach, and the season ticket can be used in both pools. Additionally, it is important for families: previous official communications have stated that children under 6 years old can enter the outdoor pools for free, and a reduced rate applies for teenagers, people in training or study, and people with disabilities. Thus, Spiesel remains a pool that can be used not only for sports but also in a family-friendly and everyday manner. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/amtsblatt-stadtinfo-16-kalenderwoche-17-april-2026.249241.25.htm))
The term evening rate frequently appears in search queries because many guests prefer to plan their visit later in the day. The current information from the city utilities refers to the webshop and the price and tariff information available there. For practical purchasing, it is particularly relevant that tickets can be purchased online or at the box office, provided the quota is still available. The city utilities describe their shop as having prices and ticket options available in the online system and that guests can also buy their admission ticket on-site. So, anyone specifically looking for Freibad Spiesel evening rate or seasonal tariff options should always check the current webshop, as the binding daily and time slots are published there. This keeps the search for the suitable rate simple, even if price or time models may change seasonally. ([webshop.sw-aalen.de](https://webshop.sw-aalen.de/faq))
Online Ticket, Booking, and Admission at Freibad Spiesel
The online ticket has become a central topic in pool planning. The city utilities Aalen explain in their FAQs that e-tickets can be booked in the webshop and that the pool can only be entered within the booked admission window. A booking is generally possible exactly 72 hours before the start of the admission window, and already purchased tickets cannot be canceled or rebooked. The tickets do not have to be personalized, meaning they can also be purchased for multiple people or groups. Additionally, the booking is binding, which is particularly helpful on very hot days: those who reserve the ticket early secure their admission and avoid waiting times at the box office. At the same time, spontaneous decisions remain possible as long as there are still places available in the quota. For users, this creates a system that offers both planning security and flexibility. ([webshop.sw-aalen.de](https://webshop.sw-aalen.de/faq))
For the classic on-site visit, the process is also clearly regulated. The FAQs from the city utilities state that tickets can be purchased online or at the box office as long as there are still quotas available. Those who book online in advance are guaranteed admission. This is especially practical for families and groups who do not want to risk that a desired time is fully booked on-site. At the same time, Freibad Spiesel remains an uncomplicated excursion destination: one can decide spontaneously, provided the quota allows it, and if necessary, show the QR code directly from the smartphone. This mix of digital booking, guaranteed admission, and classic box office solution is one of the reasons why search queries like Freibad Spiesel online ticket or Freibad Spiesel admission appear so often. ([webshop.sw-aalen.de](https://webshop.sw-aalen.de/faq))
Pools, Water Temperature, and Facilities for Families and Sports
The centerpiece of Freibad Spiesel is the large combined swimming and non-swimming pool. The city of Aalen describes it as being 50 meters long and 14.6 to 26 meters wide. There are six swimming lanes, a 1-meter diving board, and a 3-meter diving board with a tower; the water depth ranges from 1.40 to 2.00 meters. Additionally, there is a non-swimming pool and a children's splash pool available. The official detail page also mentions a heated water temperature of about 25 °C. For sporty visitors, this is a significant advantage, as one can combine lane swimming and diving with a comparatively pleasant water temperature. Families benefit from the clear separation between swimming, non-swimming, and splash areas. This creates a pool that is suitable for swimming training, refreshing, and relaxed splashing alike. ([wasseralfingen.aalen.de](https://wasseralfingen.aalen.de/freibad-spiesel.3569.267.htm?utm_source=openai))
The facilities also include a sunbathing area for about 4,000 visitors, as well as table tennis tables, a beach volleyball court, a streetball court, large water play equipment, a children's playground, a room with changing facilities, a kiosk, and an outdoor grill. Warm showers are free, table tennis is charged at 1.20 euros per hour, and the outdoor grill can be reserved by phone; wood must be brought along. This shows very well that Freibad Spiesel is more than just a swimming pool: it is a complete summer venue. Those who want to not only jump into the water but also lie on the grass, eat, play, or spend an afternoon with friends will find many options in a small space. This variety explains why the pool is so popular among families, teenagers, and clubs in the region. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/freibad-spiesel.3569.htm))
Another plus point is the barrier-free design after the renovation. The official report from 2021 describes new and wider paths that lead step-free from the main building to the pools. Additionally, the areas in the pool have been rearranged for better accessibility. The renovated main building houses changing rooms, showers, toilets, a parent-child bathroom, the ticket area, the kiosk with terrace, a multipurpose room, and a first aid room for people with mobility restrictions. The city explicitly emphasizes that the Freibad has thus become barrier-free and usable for all. The hillside location remains part of the character of the pool: it makes Spiesel unmistakable but also requires some attention when navigating. For visitors who value comfort, family-friendliness, and modern infrastructure, this is a strong argument. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/amtsblatt-stadtinfo-20-und-21-kalenderwoche-19-mai-2021.165434.25.htm))
Access, Parking, and Barrier-Free Paths in Aalen-Wasseralfingen
When searching for parking at Freibad Spiesel or Freibad Spiesel Aalen opening hours, access plays a significant role because the pool is located in a developed district with a hillside location. The city utilities Aalen provide public transport connections via bus lines 11, 19, and 82 to the stop Adenauer-/Dürerstr.; the walking distance is about 350 meters. The city detail page also mentions the bus stops TSV-Turnhalle with lines 82 and 83 and Braunenbergstraße with lines 11 and 82. This makes it clear that the pool is not isolated but well accessible by public transport. Especially on warm summer days, traveling by bus can be a relaxed alternative to driving. Those arriving by bike or on foot also benefit from the fact that the pool fits into the existing infrastructure of Wasseralfingen. ([webshop.sw-aalen.de](https://webshop.sw-aalen.de/?utm_source=openai))
For drivers, the Spiesel parking lot is the classic point of orientation. A city communication described that the well-known footpath from the Spiesel parking lot to the main entrance was temporarily not passable as usual during construction work at the Braunenberg education campus, and alternative paths were established via the tennis club or along Steinstraße. This information is particularly helpful because construction sites and pathways can change in a developed environment. Additionally, the topographical location: the official barrier-free description mentions a slope of 6 to 11 percent on the way to the swimming pools. This explains why Spiesel, despite barrier-free paths, is not flat terrain and why a small footpath from the parking lot to the entrance should be considered in planning. Those coming with strollers, luggage, or limited mobility should therefore pay special attention to the current access situation. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/saisoneroeffnung-und-zugang-zum-freibad-spiesel.213838.25.htm?utm_source=openai))
History, Renovation, and Special Moments at Freibad Spiesel
The Freibad Spiesel not only serves a practical purpose but also has a clear development history. The official renovation report from the city from 2021 mentions the pool built in 1959 and describes a comprehensive modernization that began in the fall of 2019 and cost around 3.7 million euros. The outdoor facilities and paths were redesigned, the two-story main building was renovated, and the characteristic view from the terrace over the pool was preserved. The heating center was also renewed; a combined heat and power plant operates there, and a PV system with 97.5 kWp was installed on the new sloped roof. The character of the outdoor pool has been preserved, while the infrastructure has become more contemporary, better structured, and barrier-free. This combination of tradition and modernization makes Spiesel so interesting: it is not an interchangeable standard pool but a place with history that has been gradually adapted to today’s requirements. ([aalen.de](https://www.aalen.de/amtsblatt-stadtinfo-20-und-21-kalenderwoche-19-mai-2021.165434.25.htm))
The role in city life is also remarkable. The DLRG local group Wasseralfingen has its club headquarters in Freibad Spiesel and supports supervision, safety, and order there. In summer, the local group trains directly in the pool, which shows how closely swimming culture and club life are connected here. Additionally, there are always special actions and events, such as style improvement training, swimming courses, or the 24-hour swimming event. The city regularly announces small actions for the outdoor pool season, and in 2025, a breakfast on the terrace was even mentioned for the season opening. Such formats make it understandable why the outdoor pool is perceived not only as a pool facility but also as a social meeting point. Therefore, those searching for Freibad Spiesel photos will find not only water and sunbathing areas but also the distinctive terrace, the hillside location, and the open atmosphere as recurring motifs. ([wasseralfingen.aalen.de](https://wasseralfingen.aalen.de/dlrg-ortsgruppe-wasseralfingen.2473.267.htm?utm_source=openai))
It is particularly striking that the city and the city utilities repeatedly describe Freibad Spiesel as a pool with its own character. The official reporting highlights the hilly landscape, the view over Wasseralfingen, and the good gastronomy; at the same time, it refers to the diverse event program of the outdoor pools in Aalen. Precisely for this reason, Spiesel remains more than just a place for swimming for many people: it is a summer place with recognition value. Those who come here do not only choose a swimming pool but an ensemble of water, grass, terrace, sports, and community. This is the essence of what the search terms around Freibad Spiesel opening, kiosk, photos, season ticket, and water temperature actually express: the desire for a reliable, pleasant, and vibrant outdoor swimming experience in Aalen-Wasseralfingen.
A lovely place to spend a weekend on a summer heat with all family. Spot has three swimming pools and guards. Shower and clean toilets. There is a bar with snacks, beers and ice creams for kids. Price of attraction is affordable. There is plenty of space to locate yourself on grass, near pools. Just don't forget to bring water and blanket.
