explorhino non-profit GmbH | Photos & Experiences
When people search for photos, experiences, or the exact address of explorhino, it is usually about more than just a name. It refers to a place where children, families, school classes, and curious adults can not only look at science but also try it out with their own hands. The explorhino Science Center in Aalen presents itself in official communication exactly this way: as a hands-on museum, as a learning place with events and courses, and as a house that consciously invites visitors to discover. Therefore, those who want to get an impression beforehand will find not only an address but a clear promise: Here, independent exploration is at the center, not just passing by quietly. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Photos and first impressions at explorhino
The frequent search for photos fits well with a place like explorhino, as the house thrives on images, movement, and visible curiosity. The official website regularly accompanies impressions from exhibitions and events with visual material, and even the content of the page shows that this is not meant to be a classic exhibition with distance, but a lively hands-on space. The explorhino presents itself as a Science Center with experimental stations where scientific phenomena become playfully visible. This is precisely what makes the first visual impression so strong: bright stations, groups in action, experiments, wonder, and often a very family-friendly character. The images not only convey the architecture of the house but also its atmosphere. Therefore, those who search for photos before the visit usually want to know whether the destination seems rather calm, technical, or child-friendly. The answer is clear: explorhino appears as a modern discovery place where research and play belong together. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
The location in the university environment also shapes the visual language of the house. The explorhino is not just any excursion destination on the outskirts of the city, but part of an educational site that visibly connects technology, science, and practice. That is why many people look for photos before they make their way to Aalen: They want to see if the visit is worthwhile for families, school groups, or a spontaneous weekend. The official materials convey a house that appears open and inviting, with a clear focus on STEM topics, on trying things out together, and on a friendly environment. Images of events, experiments, and hands-on activities show not only individual exhibits but the actual experience: getting hands-on, trying out, laughing, rethinking. Therefore, those who rely on photos quickly get a pretty honest picture of what explorhino is about. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
For the search intent for photos, it is also important that explorhino is not fixed to a single permanent scene. In the official presentation, new images from holiday programs, evening formats, workshops, and collaborations appear repeatedly. This makes it clear that the Science Center is not just a fixed exhibition site but a lively event location with changing motifs and themes. Therefore, those looking for a visual destination for a family outing can expect not only an exhibition but also an atmosphere of movement and discovery. This mix makes explorhino a place that appears immediately understandable in pictures: Science here is not abstract but immediate and close. This is precisely why many visitors are prompted to search for more impressions and experiences even before their arrival. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Address, opening hours, and planning a visit
The most important practical information is quickly clarified: explorhino non-profit GmbH is located at Beethovenstraße 12, 73430 Aalen. The official website clearly states the current opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM, Saturday, Sunday, and on public holidays from 10 AM to 6 PM. For registered groups, visits are also possible in the mornings. Additionally, the website points out special holiday times when the opening hours may differ. Therefore, anyone planning a visit should always check the current page with visitor information, as it also includes additional dates, closing days, and notes on special opening hours. This combination of a fixed address and variable opening hours makes the place well-planned but not rigid. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
The location on Beethovenstraße is also helpful because explorhino is closely connected to Aalen University. The university location Beethovenstraße is officially designated as a campus, and explorhino is considered part of the educational and research environment there. This facilitates orientation for visitors coming from Aalen itself or from the region. Therefore, those searching for the keyword Beethovenstraße Aalen are practically looking for a location in the university quarter. For planning, this means: address, contact, and visiting times are clearly published, and the Science Center is easily findable through the official page. The search intent for the address fits very well with a place that consciously communicates transparently and guides its visitors through planning on the website. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
It is also practical that explorhino differentiates not only opening hours but also types of visits. The website distinguishes between individual visits, events, and group offers. For registered groups, there are specific regulations, and the house explicitly refers to the event calendar. Therefore, those coming with family, school class, or association can adapt the visit much better to their own occasion. This is an important point for all those looking for experiences or practical tips: explorhino is not just a place for casual visitors, but a house with planable formats. This planability is an advantage because it clearly structures the visit according to the target group and makes preparation easy. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Experiences and what visitors can expect in everyday life
Those searching for explorhino experiences usually want to know whether the house is more suitable for small children, school children, adults, or mixed groups. The official texts answer this question very clearly: explorhino is a place for wonder, experience, and understanding, and these three words best describe the visitor experience. The offerings range from exhibitions to discovery courses to workshops and events, allowing the visit to be shaped differently depending on age and interest. For families, this means: You do not just walk through rooms, but try things out. For school classes, it means: Theory is connected with practical experiments. For adults, it means: Natural sciences become vivid, humorous, and often surprisingly tangible. This mix is the reason why search queries for experiences are so often associated with expectations of participation, learning, and joint discovery. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/explorhino-jahresbericht-2021-2022_screen.pdf))
The atmosphere in the house is supported by many official formats that rely on active participation. During holiday times, there are discovery courses, holiday workshops, and thematic offerings such as electricity, colors, chemistry, or technology. This shows that explorhino cannot be reduced to a static exhibition. Rather, the experience arises from movement, curiosity, and trying things out with real stations. In this environment, even visitors who might otherwise not be interested in science museums feel comfortable because there is no dry explanation dominating. Instead, experiments lead directly to Aha moments. This is the strength of the house: The experience is interactive, family-friendly, and geared towards a joy of learning. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/spannende-herbstferien-im-explorhino/?parent=aktuelles&utm_source=openai))
For the search query experiences, it is also important that explorhino is publicly perceived as a popular hands-on place. In an official contribution, the house was described as a crowd-puller and a treasure, and before the Corona pandemic, more than 30,000 visitors came annually to experiment. This is not marketing nonsense but an indication that the concept works in practice. A place that attracts many families, school groups, and curious individuals fulfills exactly what seekers mean by the word experiences: It offers a real, lively visitor experience that convinces not only in theory but also on-site. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Exhibition, experimental stations, and café
The heart of explorhino is the experimental stations. The official materials mention over 120 stations where scientific and technical connections can be discovered playfully. This is a clear statement for a Science Center, as it does not only show a small selection but offers a wide range of hands-on opportunities. For visitors, this means: You need time. Those who just stop by may take away a few Aha moments, but those seeking the full experience should consciously plan several hours. The stations are the core of the house, and that is why the term Science Center appears so often. The explorhino is not a fringe program but a systematically built learning and experience place for STEM topics. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/BFD_explorhino-Science-Center.pdf))
It is particularly noteworthy that the house consistently aligns its learning logic with self-activity. The annual report describes explorhino as a place where children, teenagers, and adults focus on independent exploration, wonder, and experience. This means: The exhibition is not meant to be just read. It should be hands-on, provoke questions, and show connections practically. For families, this is ideal because different age groups can benefit. For groups, it is valuable because trying things out together stimulates conversation. And for teachers, it is interesting because scientific content can be conveyed very close to the curriculum. Therefore, those searching for the term hands-on museum are looking for exactly this kind of place. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/explorhino-jahresbericht-2021-2022_screen.pdf))
The experience also includes the explorhino café, which is explicitly mentioned in official job postings. This makes it clear that the house consists not only of stations but also of quality of stay. Families and groups particularly benefit when there is a place for breaks, conversation, and short relaxation. A café in a museum is often more than just catering, as it slows down the visit and pleasantly extends the duration of stay. Together with the experimental stations, events, and workshops, this creates a rounded day trip. Therefore, explorhino is not only worthwhile as a short stop but also as a consciously planned visit with time for breaks and further discoveries. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/BFD_explorhino-Science-Center.pdf))
History, Aalen University, and Architecture Award
The explorhino is relatively young but has quickly established itself as a fixed entity in Aalen. Officially, it is said that the house opened its doors in March 2018. Even before the Corona pandemic, more than 30,000 small and large researchers came annually to experiment. This shows that the concept has not only recently worked but has developed into an attractive learning and experience location within a few years. When searching for history, this timing is important because it explains why explorhino is perceived as a modern Science Center: It combines new architecture with a clear educational mission. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Particularly strong is the connection to Aalen University. On official university pages, explorhino is described as a Science Center that brings visitors into contact with scientific, mathematical, and technical phenomena. This means that the place is not only an excursion destination but also part of the university identity in Aalen. This proximity to the university explains why the house is so well anchored in the STEM field. It is not about pure entertainment but about education, research, and practical communication. This combination makes explorhino credible and distinguishes it from many other leisure destinations. Therefore, those searching for the history of the house quickly encounter the question of how education, university, and the public come together here. ([hs-aalen.de](https://www.hs-aalen.de/en/information-for/the-public/))
Additionally, there is architectural recognition: In 2021, explorhino received the Hugo Häring Architecture Award. The official contribution not only mentions the award but also the idea behind the building: to playfully bring young people closer to the sciences. The building is therefore not only functional but also conceived as educational architecture. For many visitors, this is an important part of the experience because an attractive building supports the impact of the content. Those searching for background, special features, or an architectural highlight will find a clear answer here. explorhino is a house that is taken as seriously in its form as in its content. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Events, courses, and group offers
A major advantage of explorhino is the wide program alongside the permanent exhibition. The website refers to an event calendar, and official contributions regularly present discovery courses, holiday workshops, and special actions. Examples range from colors and light to electricity and chemistry to technology and tinkering offerings. Therefore, those searching for events will not find a random collection but a clearly recognizable concept: Natural science should become experienceable in different formats. This fits particularly well with families looking for something meaningful and playful during the holidays. It also fits with people who want to not only see the exhibition but dive deeper into individual topics. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
The variety of formats also shows that explorhino is interesting not only for leisure outings but also for educational partners. The website lists offers for schools, teachers, daycare centers, children's birthdays, leisure activities, and makerspace formats. This makes the house a place where learning is possible at various life stages. The courses for school classes are particularly valuable for pedagogical everyday life because they closely connect theory and practice. The official texts repeatedly mention practical experiments, curriculum relevance, and extracurricular learning locations. This is where the strength of the program lies: It is not a single highlight but a whole range of possibilities to experience science in different ways. ([explorhino.de](https://www.explorhino.de/aktuelles/das-explorhino-ist-ein-schatz/?parent=aktuelles))
Special formats like Night at the Museum also show that explorhino is more than a regular daytime museum. During such evenings, the house was opened longer together with other locations, and the programs combined science with an experiential character. Additionally, there were always courses and workshops during the holidays where children programmed their own robots, experimented with colors, or tried out chemical effects. This is important for all those searching for events: The offerings change continuously and are therefore lively enough to come back. For seekers, this means that a look at the calendar is almost always worthwhile. The explorhino is a house that not only wants to be discovered but also regularly rediscovered. explorhino non-profit GmbH | Photos & Experiences
I went here on a weekend. Car parking is free. Not crowded. There is a cafe inside the explorhino. 24E is the price for a family ticket. We enjoyed it a lot. Sad part is we entered the place at 2.30pm, so we were in a hurry. At 6pm they will close the centre. I think you should have a minimum of 6 hours if you want to experience the whole place.

A very strange name for a totally WONDERFUL place. We thought it was going to be kind of a natural history museum. But instead, it was a place of fascinating scientific exploration, experimentation, and learning! Perhaps the best science museum we have ever experienced, and we have been to many. There are over a hundred interactive exhibits which will help you achieve a better understanding of many scientific disciplines, including physics, electricity, optics, color, math, cryptography. Some things you have seen before, many you probably have seen, but not understood as well as you will when you leave, and many you have not previously experienced. This is a museum for kids. This is a museum for adults. This is a museum for EVERYONE who is curious, or wants to see how things work, or wants to experience so many things they read about in science class. We were only able to spend a few hours here. We could have spent the entire day. Perhaps more. This museum is definitely reason enough to travel to Aalen for an entire weekend.

Super interesting place for kids and adults. Be ready to dedicate a whole day for it! There is a cafeteria onsite, but having a lunch box with you will be a plus. Cons: the cafe is very tiny for this amount of visitors. Very often no free seats available.

Simply fantastic. Not only for the kids, but also for the parents. Calculate with at least 2 hours for the visit, it'll still be difficult to convince your little ones to leave... We will go back soon!
