Ulrich Brauchle: Illustrative – an exhibition for precise seeing
At the district office of Ostalbkreis in Aalen, the artist Ulrich Brauchle from Ellwangen presents his exhibition Illustrative. New painting and drawing come together in a concentrated showcase that mediates between abstraction and representation, landscape and figure, line and surface.
Between pencil, oil, and oil pastel
The exhibition unites pencil drawings, oil paintings, and oil pastel pictures. Brauchle's works develop their effect from the dialogue of materiality, composition, and visible traces. Lines become independent carriers of expression, color fields structure the image space, and the image carrier itself appears as a shaped surface.
Landscape as an impulse for open image spaces
Figurative motifs meet landscapes without committing to a clear narrative. Drawing from experiences of nature and landscape, image spaces are created where representation transitions into free forms. What initially appears clear and illustrative unfolds a complex, quiet tension with longer contemplation of the works.
Art historical classification and aesthetic experience
Ulrich Brauchle's artistic practice connects drawing precision with an open contemporary painting style. The art movement of the exhibition cannot be reduced to a single stylistic label: Figuration, abstraction, and graphic structure enter into a lively exchange. The curation directs the gaze towards processes of seeing and makes cultural education directly experienceable.
Opening and artist tours
The exhibition was opened on October 8, 2026. At the opening, District Administrator Dr. Joachim Bläse spoke, after which Ulrich Brauchle introduced his works. A musical framing was provided by Ulrich Brauchle and Norbert Botschek. Artist tours with Ulrich Brauchle will take place on November 19 and December 10, 2026, each at 5:30 PM.
Opening hours and exhibition atmosphere
The district office of Ostalbkreis opens Monday to Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:15 PM. The presentation in the administrative building creates a special exhibition atmosphere: art meets everyday life, and the calm environment supports an intensive contemplation of the works.
Conclusion: Experience painting and drawing live
Illustrative awaits visitors with an aesthetic experience of quiet intensity. Colors, forms, lines, and processed surfaces open a multifaceted access to contemporary art.
