Ulrich Brauchle shows the quiet power of the illustrative in Aalen

With the exhibition Illustrative, the Ellwangen artist Ulrich Brauchle invites you to experience painting and drawing in a concentrated manner at the Ostalbkreis District Office. From October 8 to December 31, 2026, pencil drawings, oil paintings, and oil pastel works will be on display there – an exhibition between abstraction and representational art.

Between Line, Surface, and Figure

Brauchle's works navigate a narrow path: figurative motifs encounter landscapes, clear forms meet open picture spaces. Lines and surfaces acquire their own tension and develop a visual language that reveals itself fully only upon longer observation.

Painting with Concentrated Atmosphere

The exhibition focuses on the immediate impact of the image. Pencil, oil, and oil pastel give the works different surfaces, tonal values, and color spaces. What initially appears simple and illustrative unfolds a complex, balanced pictorial order upon closer examination.

Opening with Artist Talk and Music

The exhibition will be opened on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM by District Administrator Dr. Joachim Bläse. Following this, Ulrich Brauchle will introduce his exhibition. The musical accompaniment will be provided by Ulrich Brauchle and Norbert Botschek.

Artist Tours at the Ostalbkreis District Office

Those who wish to deepen their understanding of the pictorial worlds can experience additional insights into Brauchle's working methods and the ideas behind the exhibition during the artist tours on November 19 and December 10, 2026, each at 5:30 PM.

Conclusion

Illustrative promises a quiet, concentrated art experience with drawing, painting, and regional contemporary art. Visitors will experience an exhibition at the Ostalbkreis District Office that sharpens the gaze and invites them to give time to images.
