Ulrich Brauchle: Illustrative – Art between Line, Surface and Reality
At the Landratsamt Ostalbkreis in Aalen, the exhibition Illustrative invites visitors to closely observe the visual worlds of the Ellwangen artist Ulrich Brauchle. From October 8 to December 31, 2026, pencil drawings, oil paintings, and oil pastel paintings coexist in a presentation that combines apparent simplicity with great formal depth.
Between Abstraction and Figurativeness
Brauchle's works navigate the narrow path between abstract composition and recognizable reality. Figurative motifs encounter landscapes, while lines and surfaces become independent carriers of expression. The picture carriers do not appear as neutral surfaces, but as actively shaped parts of the artistic statement.
Subtle Tension in the Visual Space
The exhibition thrives on a concentrated visual atmosphere. Calm surfaces, precisely set lines, and finely graduated color spaces create a quiet tension that unfolds fully only upon longer viewing. Illustrative is not equated with clarity here: Behind the clear form opens a complex, multi-layered visual space.
Insights into the Artistic Language
Ulrich Brauchle combines new painting and drawing into an independent visual language. His works do not call for a quick tour, but rather attention and time. The exhibition demonstrates how an intense engagement with perception, figurativeness, and artistic construction emerges from reduced design elements.
Visit at the Landratsamt Ostalbkreis
The exhibition is open on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entrance is free. Additional highlights include artist-led tours with Ulrich Brauchle on November 19 and December 10, 2026, each at 5:30 PM.
Conclusion
Illustrative offers an intense art experience for those who want to not only view drawing and painting but also experience their formal impact. Those who engage with lines, surfaces, and the quiet energy of the motifs will discover an exhibition at the Landratsamt Ostalbkreis with a lasting resonance.
