IN DIALOGUE: World Art meets Schloss Fachsenfeld
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the Elmer Foundation invites you to the exhibition IN DIALOGUE at Schloss Fachsenfeld in Aalen. The large autumn exhibition connects selected positions of African and European modernity, creating an exciting dialogue between different cultures, image worlds, and artistic expressions.
Artistic encounters between Africa and Europe
The focus is on works from the extensive collections of the Elmer Foundation. The exhibition explores remarkable correspondences and aesthetic affinities between world-renowned artists. Among the names presented are Baselitz, Beuys, Dietz, Douglas Camp, Elmer, Grieshaber, Hrdlicka, Hockney, Hundertwasser, Jaramanquaa, Karinto, Lüpertz, Picasso, Pühn, Owusu-Ankomah, Tinguely, Uecker, and Wennekamp.
Exhibition experience in a historic castle environment
Schloss Fachsenfeld provides the atmospheric setting for this special art show. Historic rooms, cultural ambiance, and contemporary art combine to create an event experience that invites close observation and personal engagement. The mood of the audience arises from the interplay between familiar names of European modernity and challenging positions from African art contexts.
A collection with a personal touch
The Elmer Foundation was founded in 2021 by Artur and Heidrun Elmer. Over decades, a high-quality art collection emerged, focusing on African art, European modernity, and other international art regions. With IN DIALOGUE, this collection is made accessible to a broad public and is integrated into the cultural work of Schloss Fachsenfeld within the framework of professional event planning.
Opening hours and admission
The exhibition is open on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is 5 euros per person. Parking is available on In der Steine street, next to the Protestant cemetery, and in the parking lot at the festival grounds in Fachsenfeld.

IN DIALOGUE promises an inspiring tour through an extraordinary collection and opens new perspectives on the relationships between African and European modernity.
