IN DIALOGUE: Art between Africa and Europe at Schloss Fachsenfeld
On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Elmer Foundation invites you to the exhibition IN DIALOGUE at the historic Schloss Fachsenfeld. The exhibition connects selected works from African and European modernity with an extraordinary venue and opens a multifaceted view of cultural affinities, differences, and common impulses.
When Art Borders Blur
IN DIALOGUE does not focus on a simple comparison of two art worlds. Rather, the exhibition seeks aesthetic affinities and surprising relationships between artists from Africa and Europe. Among others, works by Baselitz, Beuys, Dietz, Douglas Camp, Elmer, Grieshaber, Hrdlicka, Hockney, Hundertwasser, Jaramanquaa, Karinto, Lüpertz, Picasso, Pühn, Owusu-Ankomah, Tinguely, Uecker, and Wennekamp will be on display.
A Castle as a Resonance Space for Contemporary Art
The historical architecture and unique atmosphere of Schloss Fachsenfeld provide the exhibition with an unmistakable ambiance. Between castle rooms, park landscape, and selected exhibits, a concentrated event experience emerges for art enthusiasts, cultural audiences, and curious explorers. The foundation's event management combines museum presentation with accessible target group communication.
Enhancements with Photographic and Literary Perspective
The presentation is complemented by works of photographer Rainer Enke as well as documents from the holdings of the Schloss Fachsenfeld Foundation. The artistic dialogue with Rainer Maria Rilke's work also has its place: Works by Wiebke Bader, Paul Groll, Tobias Kerger, Jessica Rühmann, Trigal Sandberger Canas, Silke Schwab-Krüger, and Ines Tartler extend the exhibition with a literarily inspired level.
Practical Information for Visiting the Exhibition
On the day of the event, the exhibition is open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is 5 euros. Parking is available on the street In der Steine, next to the Protestant cemetery as well as at the parking lot at the event site in Fachsenfeld. The entrance area is partially barrier-free; some paths and areas of the castle are only limited barrier-free.
Conclusion: An Inspiring Art Afternoon on the Ostalb
IN DIALOGUE promises a calm, stimulating, and visually diverse encounter with modern art in a historical setting. Those looking to expand cultural perspectives, discover extraordinary exhibits, and experience the unique event atmosphere of Schloss Fachsenfeld will find a worthwhile reason to visit on October 25, 2026.
